LPN 131 - Maternal-Child Nursing

This course focuses on the care of patients during the child-bearing cycle and during childhood developmental phases. Concepts of normal growth and development, as well as deviations from the normal, as a part of family life are emphasized. The effects of acute, chronic, and terminal health problems are considered with regard for impact on developmental tasks and family maintenance. Clincal experiences offer learners the opportunity to use established professional standards, guidelines, competencies, and best practices to provide safe, patient-centered care to pregnanct women, infants, children, adolescents and their families.
