BIO 220 - AP Health Care I 4 Credit(s) This course is the first semester of a two-semester sequence on the structure and function of the human body that systematically covers all organ systems and prepares students for a career in the health care field. The course provides students with in-depth knowledge, understanding, and ability to explain the various anatomic and physiologic aspects of the body systems in normal and common pathological conditions. Topics of this course include the fundamental concepts of chemistry, cytology, and histology, a study of the integumentary system, the skeletal system, the muscular system, the nervous system, joints, and the special senses. Students in health science programs need to check with their advisor before taking this class as it may not be an acceptable science course. This course contains both a lecture and a lab component.
Prerequisite(s): Satisfactory reading and writing placement or ENG 097 . Pre/Corequisite(s): ENG 101 or ENG 115
