The A.S. program concentration in General Science aims to equip students with a versatile skill set encompassing theoretical understanding, hands-on experience, and effective communication in engineering, mathematics, and/or physical and earth sciences. Through a diverse range of courses including computer science, statistics, and scientific writing, students are immersed in an expansive curriculum. This ensures that upon graduation, they possess a strong comprehension and capability to apply and convey fundamental scientific principles. The program endeavors to prepare students for careers across various scientific fields that rely on rigorous methodologies or to smoothly transition into further education at a four-year institution.

While the generic layout offers a broad foundation, students can also work with a faculty advisor to pursue specialized tracks in math, chemistry, physics, or fully remote options.

Additionally, upon completion, graduates will be able to:

1. Acquire a solid theoretical foundation in the scientific fields of interest such as engineering, mathematics and/or the physical and earth sciences through rigorous coursework and hands-on learning experiences.

2. Apply the foundational scientific principles, computer science skills, and statistics understanding to the scientific field of interest to address complex real-world challenges effectively, fostering critical thinking, experimentation, and innovation.

3. Communicate scientific concepts and findings clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing, to diverse audiences.

4. Explore the diverse career pathways including entry-level roles in the government, industry or academy as well as transition into further education at four-year institutions.
