ART 150 - Art Appreciation 3 Credit(s) Art Appreciation will introduce students to the visual arts and the variety of art mediums and techniques used to create two- and three-dimensional works of art intertwined with famous works throughout history. The purpose of this course is to build a context for understanding the arts: historically, socially, narratively, politically and scientifically with the intention of making art meaningful to the student’s everyday life. Students will explore and analyze influential works of art to gain an understanding of the arts as a method of communication and expression. While reflecting upon and assessing the characteristics and quality of art, students will develop, explore and express their personal aesthetics through research projects, class discussions, and writing assignments.
Prerequisite(s): Satisfactory writing placement test scores or ENG 090 and satisfactory reading placement test scores or READ 095
